Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban Review

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban Review

On my last trip I purchased a bottle of this single malt scotch whisky.  Since I’ve always enjoyed the offerings from Glenmorangie, and I had not tried this one yet, it was an easy decision.

Brief History

Starting with their brand symbol, you know Glenmorangie means business.  They chose the Cadboll Stone as an inspiration for their brand.  They describe it as a ‘treasure’ possessing ‘intricate carvings’.  I tend to agree.  When I saw it for the first time it struck me as highly detailed, bold, and masterful statement.  It could not be better depicted as by a video they released.  This video follows two Master Craftsmen with distinctly different disciplines who Glenmorangie commissioned to bring their symbol to life.  Check it out below: read more

Whiskey Business 2015

Whiskey Business 2015

If you like tasting new Whiskeys for a night out with friends or to meet new people then Whiskey Business is for you.  Held in The Farmers Market in Royal Oak it was poised to be a great night.

Background

My friends had introduced me to this event last year when it came up as a Groupon deal.  Unfortunately due to bad timing I could not make it out.  I had to hear about how good it was for several months after that.  So when the Whiskey Business event came up for this year, I made sure I had this date open on my calendar. read more

Angus The Bull red wine review

Angus The Bull red wine review

Ever since some of my friends introduced me to Australian wine I’ve been inclined to buy wine from that region.  The big fruit taste as well as the higher potency lured me and has kept my attention.  In the ever onward search for great value in a table wine I was acquainted with Angus The Bull.

Brief History

Do a search for “Angus The Bull” on Google and you’ll be greeted with a concise website with strong brand appeal.  The horned ‘g’ is the most memorable part.  It appears in the name and is also displayed prominently on the twist-cap in bright red-on-black.  The Winemaker responsible for this red is Hamish MacGowan.  His site explains that the concept of Angus The Bull was very simple but in its simplicity became an obsession that needed to be sated.  In 2003 he established the Aberdeen Wine Company to turn his idea into reality. read more

Luksusowa Vodka Review

Luksusowa Vodka Review

I’ll be honest, while I appreciate all libations of the alcoholic variety, I’m not big on Vodka.  Which is exactly why I wanted to expand my palette and delve into this classic drink.  Think of it as a Vodka review from the perspective of a Vodka newbie.  I always want to make sure I do some background research on the brand the first time I write about it, so here’s what I found for the Luksusowa Vodka.

Brief History

Oh my, was I ever pleasantly surprised after visiting their website.  It is one of the wittiest sites I’ve ever come across, hilarious, yet tasteful (pun intended)!  While their product is on the forefront, the site is laid out as “The Man’s Guide to Manliness”, I love it.  And it is filled with “Manly Tips”, thirty-three of them to be exact.  I found a little doodle of their entire history since 1928, it was just below tip # 26.  According to their site Luksusowa Vodka has always been made in Poland and as of 2000 they are exclusively produced in Zielona Góra, a city in Poland.  They’ve won many accolades throughout the years , as of 2011 they have accumulated 42 medals and awards. read more

The Macallan Sienna Whisky Review

The Macallan Sienna Whisky Review

I’ve recently had the pleasure of enjoying The Macallan Sienna an offering from their 1824 line up.  Here I’ll let you know how it tasted, but first to satisfy my curiosity I had to do a little research on the brand.

Brief History

A long time ago, 1824 to be exact, a school Teacher and barley Farmer in Scotland founded The Macallan distillery.  His name was Alexander Reid.  Things were much different then, for example whisky would be made and drunk new.  That’s right, no aging.  Their website describes “Six Pillars” to which they attribute the ‘fame and character’ of their single malt whisky.  The pillars are: Spiritual Home, Curiously Small Stills, Finest Cut, Exceptional Oak Casks, Natural Colour, and The Macallan itself.  I’ll talk about the two that interested me the most, Finest Cut and Exceptional Oak Casks. read more
