Red Rock Canyon

Why You Should Visit Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas. Check It Out Here!

Red Rock Canyon

On a recent trip to Las Vegas I was able to explore nearby attractions and Red Rock Canyon was one of them.  While I mentioned this destination on my recent blog entry I thought it deserved a blog entry of its own.

Where is Red Rock Canyon you ask?

It is in southern Nevada, USA just west of Las Vegas.  If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend you add it to your itinerary .  It provides an exquisite scenery.  Just off highway 159 aka Blue Diamond Road, there is a side road leading to this beautiful tourist attraction.  Shortly after entering this side road you’ll arrive at a toll booth which charged us $7 USD to enter this conservation area.  Above you can see a photo of the Blue Diamond Road on the left and the Red Rock Canyon on the right. read more

Vegas for the non-gambler

Vegas for the non-gambler

Is this even possible or a contradiction?  Vegas is known for its casinos, what could it offer to someone who doesn’t gamble?  Let’s explore!

The lure

The first attractive aspects of Las Vegas were the flight and hotel combos being offered by many travel sites.  You can find these easily if you do a google search or even as an offer from a trusted site in your email inbox.  We were able to get a flight to Las Vegas with a room at the Luxor for $81.89 per night.  It’s simply ridiculous.  So now that we got the transportation to Vegas with hotel covered, let’s see what we can do there. read more

Background

My friends had introduced me to this event last year when it came up as a Groupon deal.  Unfortunately due to bad timing I could not make it out.  I had to hear about how good it was for several months after that.  So when the Whiskey Business event came up for this year, I made sure I had this date open on my calendar. read more

Paris in a day

Paris in a day

About this time last year I was going to travel to Europe for work and I was going to be near Paris.  Naturally I jumped at the chance to see this iconic city.  I also knew I would have limited time available and could not stay longer than the weekend.  So, I prepared to do Paris in a day!

Planning

This was going to be a challenge.  The old carpenter’s adage of ‘measure twice, cut once’ sure was appropriate in this scenario.  I only had a weekend, minus about one day of travel which gave me one full day to pack as much of Paris as I could.  Pre-planning was going to be key.  To compound this bravery this was also my first time in Europe, I didn’t know much French, and I was going alone.  I was realistic and knew that I wasn’t going to get the full experience from each attraction.  Having this in mind while planning made things easier to manage.  Browsing the net for help on putting my ‘Paris in a day’ itinerary together I came across a nice tool on a site called visitacity.com .  This site had customizable itineraries based on your length of trip, sites, and activities – just what I was looking for! read more
